Fiber farming in TN is difficult. Over the years, we have tried a few different fiber producing animals to find the ones that fit our resources and our available time to manage them properly. So if you are visiting Donkey Ridge you may catch a glimpse of our beautiful Llamas, Drogo and Dexter. Our beautiful Alpaca, Aegon.
I also have some Angora Rabbits that I love so much! If you want to see them, you’ll need to book a time because they live in a cute little climate controlled building.

Fiber Processing
I process almost all the fiber I raise right here on my farm. It is truly a farm to fashion production! I love and care for all these animals. Make sure they have everything they need for physical and mental health so they are not stressed and grow the most lovely fiber and wool.
I have the camelids professional shorn and I personally clip my rabbits when their fiber gets long. I wash the fibers gently. If I dye it I use food safe dyes. I have a picker, screened tables, drum carders and 2 spinning wheels. Then I have knitting machines and weaving looms to make items from that yarn.
Should I decide to have roving made I can send it to a local mill.
My Humanely Produced Fibers
Fiber farming is a beautiful process and no animals are hurt or abused. In my case, none of them are killed for meat. I have a no-kill fiber farm. The animals are allowed to grow out to adults and into old age while I oversee and make sure they are content and healthy.
